Forgetting to Pack Something For a Horse Show is the Worst
And I would know. Over the many years that I showed my horses, continuing through the many years my kids have been showing, I have gotten pretty good at packing our supplies. However, there have been a few times that we have still managed to forget something necessary.
Typically, a horse show isn’t right around the corner from your house. (And if it is, consider yourself super lucky.) We have driven up to 2 or 3 hours to get to shows before and as you might imagine, forgetting things at home can be a real problem.
When I was a kid I remember a show when we forgot the girth. You kind of need a girth if you plan on using a saddle, so there went my mom, driving 30 minutes home and then back to get it. Fortunately, I didn’t miss my class, but it was a CLOSE call.
For my daughter’s shows, we have forgotten some oddball stuff over the years – gloves, bows, etc.
What to Do When You Forget Something
If you are not a close drive to your house, you might luck out and be able to borrow the item you forgot from a fellow farm family. Or perhaps the show has a tack shop or vendor on site where you can buy what you need.
It will probably only take forgetting one thing one time for you to make sure you pack your bags with everything you need.
