Chick’s Discount Saddlery is a well-known leader in mail-order and online horse supplies and tack. But did you know that Chick’s actually has a brick and mortar store in Harrington, Delaware? We had the opportunity to pop in for a visit and quick shopping trip earlier this year. Check out the pictures below to see inside the store!
Chick’s Discount Saddlery
If you have ever cruised along Route 13 in Delaware (also known as Dupont Highway), you might have noticed a HUGE red barn structure that sits close to the road. The name “Chick’s” is sprawled across the front and side of the building in huge cursive letters.
Chick’s Discount Saddlery has been open since the mid-1970s and offers a huge array of horse tack and other equine supplies at very discount prices. Their main source of business comes from mail-in/catalog and online orders. (A large portion of their building is actually warehouse space.)
Where exactly is Chick’s Discount Saddlery located?
Chick’s is hard to miss, as the building is so big and it sits so close to the road.
The actual location is 18011 South Dupont Highway Harrington, DE 19952.
It is located across the highway from the Delaware State Fairgrounds.
Can you shop at Chick’s?
YES! You can!
We have passed by Chick’s many times over the years. However, we always happened to be on our way to a vacation destination or on the way home and didn’t have the time to stop!
That finally changed a couple months ago. My son had an ice hockey game and the rink was almost directly across the highway from Chick’s! After the game, we made a pitstop at Chick’s to see what they had to offer.
When is Chick’s Saddlery Open?
Chick’s is open 6 days a week (Tuesday through Sunday). They are closed on Mondays.

What will you find at Chick’s Retail Store?
Simply put: A LOT!
First and foremost, you will find a LOT of great western wear. From cowboy boots and hats to blinged out belts and cool jewelry, there is a very wide array of western styles. The prices seemed very decent and they had an impressive variety of boot styles for kids and adults.
During our visit, we found some excellent deals on horse blankets.
Towards the back of the store, there are many rows of western tack and other stock (you can see various areas of their warehouse towards the back).
One section in the back had racks of English apparel – hunt coats, jodhpurs, and show shirts. There were several racks of saddle pads and lots of different accessories along the wall including crops and spurs.
We wandered through a big section of horse care items – loaded with treats, first aid supplies and bathing supplies like shampoo and conditioner. We found a variety of tack cleaning supplies, wormers, hoof polish and more.
All the way in the back section of the store was a clearance area. This area had some apparel and other items at up to 70%+ off. All sales in this section are final.
The front of the store has various apparel items, grooming supplies, little gifts, cards and some cute home decor pieces. I just loved these gorgeous cards from Hunt Seat Paper Co!
We managed to pick up a few different items at Chick’s at bargain prices. We found a shirt and a horse show accessory organizer in the clearance section at huge discounts. Also added to our bag were some new grooming tools, some horse treats, and new jump cups for our jump standards.
It was worth the stop for us and we enjoyed the chance to look around!
